  • The Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution
    The Industrial Revolution was where factories ran by steam engines. Britain was the birth place of the steam engine, soon after the invention London became the biggest city in England. The effect of the industrial revolution was that the factories let of thick black smoke into the atmosphere and the waste would have been dumped into the surrounding river which would have polluted the water. Causing an unhygenic envioroment.
  • Involuntary Migration

    Involuntary Migration
    Involuntary migration was where African slaves were shipped from Europe to Australia. The salves were from Senegal, Gambia, Liberia, the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Benin and Cameroon. The slaves harvested crops such as sugar, cotton and tobacco. These people where forced against their will's and foreced to be migrated.
  • Convicts

    Convicts
    Convicts were people who were sentenced to crimes such as murder or simply stealing a loaf of bread. These convicts had the choice of the death sentence or being migrated to Australia to work for the free settlers. If they chose to be shipped to Australia they were transported by boat on an eight month migration to Australia.
  • Free Settlers

    Free Settlers
    Free settlers where people who chose to be migrated to Australia for free land and had slaves work for them for free. They were crammed on a boat with around eight hundred other free settlers and convicts. They received more money in Australia which they could send back to England to support their family.
  • The Second Fleet

    The Second Fleet
    During the course of eight months on the second fleet from Europe to Australia over 258 convicts died on the ships. The convicts died from lots of causes such as starvation, hypothermia and all sorts of diseases. The diseases were caused from rats, horrible toilets and no cleaning supplies. It would have been very unclean and unhygienic which helped with the spreading of diseases.

    As a result of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, Austria retaliated. Austria invaded Serbia and called on its allies and so did Serbia. The two alliances where formed, the Triple Alliance which consisted of France, Russia and Great Britain and the Triple Entente which consisted of Italy, Austria-Hungry and Germany. This was the start of World War One.

    The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie
    The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie was in Sarajevo, Bosnian. The murder took place on the 28th of June 1914, Franz and his wife were visiting this city. A gang known as the Black Hand, there aim was to take back Bosnia for their country. Serbia had warned Ferdinand to stay away and not visit Sarajevo but Ferdinand ignored their warning and went ahead with his plans.
    This led to the murder of Ferdinand and his wife by Gavrili Princip the leader of the Black Hand.

    Great Britain declared war on Germany
    Great Britain declared war on Germany on Thursday 6 August 1914. Britain declared war on Germany because they refused to take their troops out from neutral Belgium. Sir Edward Grey from the British foreign secretary gave the orders to the Germany but they ignored the orders. Therefore, Great Britain declared war on the German creating World War 1.
  • The Battle of Somme

    The Battle of Somme
    The Battle of Somme was a conflict between Germany, France and Britain. The battle comenced on the start of July and finished on the 13th of November The battle was fought over five months. The battle of Somme was located on the Northern coast of France alongside the River Somme. The French and the British won the war and there was over sixty thousand casualties.
