At age 18, she joined the Sisters of Loreto, and Irish community of nuns. She vowed to become a nun on May 24, 1931. From 1931 to 1948, she taught at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta. She fully devoted her life to helping the poor. For her work, she recieved a number of awards: The Pope John XXIII Peace Prize
