    On this day Japan executed their plan to invade Chinna. This happened due to the fact that China, in Jpans eyes, was a resouce goldmine. The military driven nation needed raw materials execute Pan- asianism. Also, Japan wantesd to make a name for itself and proove th tthe western civilivation that it was ready for th big leagues.the event ended up having a huge efferct on China, arguably giving way to modern China.

    Rape of Nanking
    The Japanese soldiers got board of occuping China and began to slaugter men women, and children. Most young women were raped then killed, but once it was harder to find gils they did the same to young boys. they kept score off who killed more people and pretty much did all this for fun.

    the Two countries, Germany and the Soviet Union, were both dictatorship totalitiarian governments but they pretty much hated each other and the pact was not meant to last long. Both sides had "secert" reasons for making the pact and the would both gain aid in some way by the short lived contract.

    In January of 1934 GHitler made a nonaggression pact with Poland. This was only a plan by him to let Germany ream without th threat of a French-Polish alience. September 1st 1939 Germany invaded poland, and within weeks poland was defeated. This was a momumental point in the was because poland was the focal point of The Holocaust.
    The nonggression pact with poland was one of Hitler's first forign polecies and was highly unpopular.

    Operation Barbarosa was the code name for the undercover opperation to betray the Soviet Union and invade them. There was not only geogafical advantages to beating Russia but it also stopped them from joining Britain and being helpful for while. The event helped Britian allow an alliance with Russia.

    Japan invaded and air raided the military base of pearl Harbor in Hawaii. They did this not only to ingage the U.S. in the war, but also to get back at them for kicking them out of the UN. This ened up back firing and was the turning point in the war.
    The president wanted to go to war from the begining, but being a good president he did what the people wanted and stayed out.

    Operation Gomorrah
    the last week in July 1943 when the brish by night and the Americans by day did one of if not the worst bombings of the war on Hamburg.the british had lost 167 civilian lives in bombings earlier in July. Radar jamming devices were used to mislaed Germany, and to make matters worse the U.S. was involved this time arround. I depleted German morale and killed 30,000 people. It also destoyed 280,000 building, while the realization of the end set in for Germany.

    thunderclap was a plan that was supposed to kill 220,000 Germans including high military leaders, crushingg German morale in an attack on Belin. the plan was deemed impracticle and shelved. it was later brought up in 1945 witha russian advance but it was agian stopped in tis tracks and never used.
    While the goal was to kill 220,000 poeple it would have also killed 110,000 of their own men

    the battle of bulge was a major offecive campaign by the Germans the primary goal was to recapture the lost habour of Antwerp. It caughty thE allies off gaurd and American bore the brunt of the attack suffering then , more casualties than in any other part of the war.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    It was a major battle in which the United States landed and captured the island of Iwo Jima. the gun power of the U.S. won over the extensive defence of the Japanese. It happened due to stratigic value of the land, altough it was contrversial afterwards. it allwoed emergency landing for sme of the air planes.
    There were 11 miles of undergroound tunnels in the Japanese defence.

  • Battle of Okinawa

    After a series of island hopping the allied power decided to take Okinawa, an important sratigic battleground. it was only 340 miles form Japanese mainland. This battle was one of the brutlest battle's in the Pacific war. Eventually the allied powers won out and the island aided them very much so in the defeat of Japan.
    The battle was refered to as the rain of steel by the Japanese due to the brutality and harshness of the battle

    Marks the foormal acceptance of ucondictional surrrender by Nazi germany and its armed forces. On april 30th Adolf Hitler committed suicide, so the surrender was signed by his predessesor. It ended the war in Europe.

    On august 6th and 9th the atomicb ombs were dropped on Japan. this was due to the incomplience of Japan to surrender. The bombs basiccly endedt the war, but its usage is still debated today.

    August 15th marked the announcment of the surrender of Japan. Justy days after the atomic bombs were dropped and the Soviet Union joined the fight Japan Surrendered. It ended the Pasific war and WWII
