    A man from Austria-Hungary shot Archduke Francis Ferdinand during a parade. The hope was to break up Austria-Hungary provinces.
  • Wilson Urges Neutrality

    Wilson Urges Neutrality

    Woodrow Wilson wanted to stay neutral during the war. At the time most of America agreed. This would change later in the war.
  • Sinking of Lusitania

    Sinking of Lusitania

    America wasn't part of the war until the sinking of Lusitania. Germany sent out a warning for boats not to cross a line or they would be exploded. There was a boat with American passengers that was exploded.
  • Zimmerman note

    This note was intercepted by the British saying that if America entered the war Germany would start a secret alliance with Mexico. They would fund an attack against the U.S. and give Mexico back some of its "lost land".

    Woodrow wilson went before a joint session of congress to ask for a declaration of war against Germany. Two days after he presented all of the facts and reasons Congress approved and we declared war.

    This consisted of Germans driving german cars until they could switch into a french car. They then drove to a meeting place in France and made the deal.

    This lasted for about six months. It was the most powerful leaders coming together to make peace and end the war. The victorious allied forces has most of the say over what was going to be the new set of rules.
