  • Archduke Franz Ferdinand is Murdered

    Archduke was shot by the Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Principe. After the assassination of Archduke, many events were set off. Austria-Hungary blamed the Serbia government for the murder and hoped to use it as an explanation to settle the question of the Serbian nationalism.
  • WWI Begins

    WWI begins. After Serbia assumed Austria- Hungary was ready for war, Serbia asked Russia for assistance and on July 28, Austria- Hungary declared war. A week went on and Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Serbia went against Austria-Hungary and Germany, and WWI begun.
  • Battle Of Tannenberg

    Battle of Tannenberg. Over 50,000 Russian soldiers were killed off, and around 92,000 were taken as prisoners. By the end of August, Russia achieved one of their goals which was that dead Germans were removed from the Western and taken to the Eastern Front.
  • Germans Introduce Poison Gas

    Germans introduce poison gas. In the start of WWI Germans started to create chemical weapons. They fired more than 150 tons of lethal gas against the French colonies. This was known as the “Second Battle of Ypres”. The allied powers were waiting for Germany to attack to make any moves, then they were shocked with the chlorine gas.
  • First Tank Created

    First tank created. The first tank created by the British was named Little Willie. The tank was to respond to the Trench Warfare. This tank was very slow and eventually gave out and could not cross over the trenches so another tank was created and was named Big Willie. After seeing the potential in tanks from the many that were created, many other designs came along with many improvements. After this, tanks were one of the weapons most needed in war.

  • United Stated Enters the War

    U.S. enters the war. The U.S. joined Britain, France, and Russia to fight in the war. Several Americans were not agreeing with the U.S. entering the war and wanted to stay neutral. The U.S. was led by General John J. Pershing. Over 2 million U.S. soldiers fought on the battlefields in France.

    George Jacob Doll got his draft registration card. A registration card is a card included with a product that allows a user to send the company information about themselves or the product they purchased. This was highly important.
  • Germany and Russia Peace

    Germany and Russia Peace. Germany signed a peace treaty with the Central Powers stating that they are done being in the war. On November 11, the Allies were marked for victory over Germany. After this Germany was forced to give other their territories they gained from the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles. Allied powers talk about building a world for after the war that would keep people safe from future problems. Unfortunately, the Treaty of Versailles would not meet that goal. Germany felt they were being tricked into signing the treaty, but decades later they would be among the causes of WWI.
  • German General, Erich Ludendorff, resigns

    German general, Erich Ludendorff, resigns. Several days before the ending of the war, General of the Germans, Erich Ludendorff resigned. After pressure from Chancellor Max Von Baden he officially ended the time of being General. . The same day of forbidding that the Henderberg line was reached, Erich forced endings on the terms set by Woodrow Wilson.
  • Armistice Day

    Armistice Day (Veterans day). After the war ended on November 11, that day was named as “Armistice Day”, also known as Veterans Day. This day is for the remembrance of all the participants in both wars. It is to honor the veterans greatly. British countries now call this day “Remembrance Day”.
