On April 6, 1917, the U.S Congress authorized a declaration of war against Germany. The U.S joined allies side, on the side of France and Britain. -

Armistice Day is the anniversary of armistice of November 11, 1918. The anniversary was later renamed to Veterans Day, as we all know it today. -

Biographical information for James E. Hoskins
James was a quaker farmer who was drafted when he was 24. He was willing to serve for his country despite his religious upbringing. When the draft board accepted him, people in the community painted the family's picket fence yellow.
