While the Germans, Maxim machine guns to mow down enemy troops, the Allies used Mark V tanks to counter them. Both sides used artillery a lot and the Germans also decided to spice things up with flamethrowers.

Long, narrow, ditches where soldiers lived. Both sides used them and the land in between was called no-man's land.

The Allied powers consisted of Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and the US. It also included various smaller countries. Italy had originally made a treaty with Germany but decided to switcdh sides. The US then decided to join in 1917.

Germany and the Austria-Hungary empire originally became allies in 1879 but then after the war started, were joined by the Ottomans and Bulgaria. It was a very sloppy alliance and that showed later on when they lost the war.

The U.S. sent over 2,000,000 troops over to Europe to help it's Allies, France, Britain, and Russia, fight the Central Powers in World War 1.

After preparing to head over to France, the journey finally arrives. The boat was super packed with people and there wasn't any bunks to sleep on. The trip took 2 days but most people were exhausted and slept through it.

A bit after they arrived he took a week vacatio in France. He went with one other guy and they struggled to get food due to bad French. When he returned, he had a new sergeant.

Eventually he was moved to the front. It was a rough trip with about 94 trucks and 30 people in each truck. They even had to stop twice due to obstacles in the road.

After a number of events happened, he was promoted. His lieutenant was sick, his corporal and sergeant were both injured, and that led to him becoming commander. He mostly directed a team of snipers in a city.

At 1am an artillery gun went off causing both sides to bomb each other. Gradually the fire from each side died down until 5am. He made it out fine but he witnessed thousands of men going to fix things and repair the damage.

Germany put a lot of resources into one giant offensive and when that failed, they started running low on men and supplies. The result of that was their surrender.

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th Armistice Day. It was made to celebrate World War 1 Veterans. Eventually, President Eisenhower replaced the day with Veterans Day to celebrate Veterans from all wars.

After the war, the Allies came together to negotiate a treaty. The treaty blamed the war on Germany and punished them without thier consent. Also formed the League of Nations.

The League of Nations was an unsuccessful version of the United Nations formed after WW1. It was based in Geneva, Switzerland and was formed by the Treaty of Versailles. It disbanded on April 18, 1946.
