    Assassination of Archduke Franz-Ferdenand

    Archduke Franz-Ferdenand is assassinated by Serbian Extremist Gavrilo Princip. Gavrilo is tried and executed for the crime. This sparks Austria-Hungary into war with the Serbs.

  • Russia Mobilizes

    Austria-Hungary Declares war on Serbia and Russia Mobilizes. Germany warns Russia to cease mobilization, but Russia replies that mobilization is against Austria-Hungary only.

  • Germany Invades Luxembourg

    Germany invades Luxembourg with assistance of Austria-hungary. This will be the first military action on the western front.

  • First Shot Fired by Allies

    Shots fired by the Allies. Montenegro declares war on Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire closes the Dardenelles.

  • Serbia is invaded by Germany and Austria-Hungary

    Serbia invaded, by this time, many countries at war with the Central Powers

  • The War Ends

    First Meeting of the League of Nation is in progress. This is the day that the war is officially over.
