    Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    This set the whole war off. The assassin walked up to the car he was in and shot him, along with his wife. This angered so many people and caused a long line of events that eventually resulted in war.
  • Lusitania Sinks

    Lusitania Sinks
    A ship that had 1,198 people on it was sunk by the Germans, which is one of the reasons that America joined the war. There were 128 Americans on board.
  • Zimmerman Telegram was sent

    Zimmerman Telegram was sent
    The Zimmerman telegram was a telegram sent to Mexico (from the Germans) asking them to join the war and bribing them. They promised that if they joined and helped out, they would make sure that they get Arizona, and the states that America claimed, back to Mexico. This is what really pushed the U.S. into joining war.
  • U.S. Enters War

    U.S. Enters War
    We finally enter the war, almost at the last minute. We side with the Allies and fight with them until the November of 1918.

    Germany and Russia are at Peace
    The German and Russian government sign a peace treaty.
  • Battle of St. Mihiel

    Battle of St. Mihiel
    A major battle in World War 1 that took place in France. 110, French troops and the A.E.F (American Expeditionary Forces) attacked the Germans.
  • Heading to France

    A ship was heading overseas to France. Earl Bill is the captain, and he had to get rid of one of the soldiers since he was very sick. They made a few transfers, and things are going well.
  • Censoring the Mail

    The ship finally makes it to France. There are some censorship regulations, which forbid Earl and the other soldiers to disclose certain information. He got sick from Spanish influenza and couldn’t work for 3 days.
  • False Alarm

    The war is just about over, but Earl is a little bit disappointed that he didn't get a chance to fight. He is a bit anxious to get back home.
  • Armistice Day

    Armistice Day
    This was the day when the war officially ended. An armistice was signed by the leaders of France, Britain, and Germany on the 11th month, of the 11th day, at 11:00. That event is still celebrated to this day, but was renamed Veterans Day to honor all soldiers in all wars.
