    Was born in Tournai, Belgium. She was raised in a middle-class and catholic household. Her mother died when she was nine years old, therefore she was sent to an orphanage. At age fifteen, Petit quit going to school and began to work.

    Petit helped her wounded fiance, Maurice Gobert cross the border to the netherlands to reunite with his regiments. She began sending the British information about the German army. Before being recruited as a spy, she was a nurse.

    Was trained to be a spy. Later sent to the Imperial German Army where she used a “fake identity”. Petit was putting her life in danger and she knew it, she put others before herself.

    23 year old Belgium Gabrielle Petit, was one of the eleven women to be executed by the German. She was shot and killed for her courageous and brave decisions. One of the most heroic women of WW1.
