    Archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sophie left for bosnia-herzegovina despite of receiving multiple warnings to cancel the trip on June 23. the small town of sarajevo welcomed them. there was an attempted involving a bomb but went under the wrong. later that day a man pulled out a pistoale burning a purad and fired two shots. one hit ferdahan in the neck and the other went in to sophie's abdomen.

    The Battle Of Tannenberg was fought 23-31, 1914. One of the few battles of maneuver from a conflict best known for static trench warfare. Germany 13,873 vs russia's 170,000 men by the end 78,000 russian troops were killed and 92,000 captured, 1,726german troops were killed, 7,461 wounded and 4,686 missing. This was so early in to the war it shocked most and that's why it is considered one of the most crucial battles fought in the war.

Mustard gas is one of the most famous of the gases also called “King of The Battle Gases”. These three gases claimed the lives of thousands; but only one could affect immediately after exposure.

The united states arrived in france on june 26, 1917 with over 14,000 troopes. The frontes where at a stalemate until the united states stepped foot on the battlefield the war ended.

    Mark McCave‘s memoir are lost but make you think. in one sentence he said “It is remarkable how the birds still sing in the war-swept forest.” (Diary, 3/2/1918)”. this makes you think what where there reason for singing. in another sentence he quotes a comrade but does not state this name he states “letters from home are like the heavens breaking through depressing clouds.” it actually shows the joy in the statement.
