    British ocean liner was sank by a torpedo by a German submarine. In 20 min. into the Celtic Sea. 1,195 people were killed but 123 Americans were killed, further more getting America involved.

    Zimmerman Note
    The Zimmerman Note was a telegram that Germany sent secretly to Mexico, asking to join forces. Prior the U.S. joining into the war. The German Minister used the bribe of American land for joining. This is yet another cause of the U.S. joining the war.

    Spanish Flu is a deadly influenza pandemic that killed 500,000 inside the U.S. and 20 to 30 million world wide. The people that caught this had normal symptoms of the flu with aches, fever, and nausea. Also they would have spots on their cheeks and would turn blue from lack of oxygen because the lungs were being filled with a bloody substance.

    The Espionage Act targeted Socialists and Labor leaders and tried to block harmful views against the U.S.. It violated the 1st amendment because it prohibited freedom of speech and the press. The Schenck v. U.S. court case in March 3, 1919 was the fight to see if the act was constitutional, it was ruled that the 1st amendment could be restricted if there is a "clear and present danger"

    The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that brought WWI to an end. There were terms for Germany; they were not allowed to join the united nations. Germany wasn't allowed to unite with Austria. All rich land of Germany was spread to surrounding country's. They had to pay for all destruction and they had to have a slim navy and army; no air force.
