    Found here.America, though declaring to stay neutral, began trading with the Allies more than the Central Powers as war began to rage across Europe. Trading with Germany was eventually banned with the beginning of wawr on the 6th of April, 1917.

    At this point in time the allainces have been formed. Japan, Great Britian, France, and Russia had formed an allaince and declared war on Germany, Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, and Austria-Hungary.

    FromAfter leaving the harbor in New York on May 1, 1915. A British passenger liner carrying 1,200 people. 128 of those people were Americans. A German U-boat spotted her off of the coast of Ireland and launched two torpedos. The ship sunk 40 minutes after being struck and sparked many Anti-German feelings in America.

    Less than a year after the sinking of the Lusitania another attack had been made on a passenger boat this one known as the Sussex, another passenger ship. President Wilson demanded that these attacks quit happening. German military leaders took the Sussex pledge saying that there wouldn't be anymore unprovoked attacks on merchant and passenger ships.

    From British Crpytographers deciphered a German telegraph sent to Mexico in January, 1917 sent to Mexico offering USA land in return for joining the war on the German side.

    After the Zimmermann note had been discovered congress declared war on Germany. "The world must be made safe for democracy," was said by Predsident Woodrow Wilson

    America is fighting in the war.

    Through hardship and the consideration of losing a loved one the Americans had entered "The Great War" and were now part of the soldiers fighting for their lives. Americans at their homelands were now dealing with many propaganda and giving up many of the luxuries that they were dealing with almost daily. Giving up many things including wheat, meat, and metal. All for the new war effort. Americans would have to eat things like fish, corn, and would no longer have all the means of metal luxuries.

    Upon being decided by the USA government there was in place a draft for indivuals of the ages 21-31. It was randomly selected and if your name was drawn you were going to war. It was edited from the version used during the civil war this time there were limitations onto who can enter the draft. However you weren't able to buy, bribe, or use a bounty in order to get out of the draft. If you were eligible between the eligible age your name would have the possiblitly of being drafted.

    Women in factories numbers increase drastically

    Women were commonly used in factories since men were scarce and forced to do service overseas. Much propaganda supported this idea of men on the front lines, women in the factories. Many volunteer services were also pushed along this time, the red cross needed many people to go overseas to help with the wounded in the makeshift infirmaries in the trenches.

    If you were a man and you were unable to go to war you were often looked down upon since the propaganda was everywhere. These signs introduced the popular Uncle Sam, I WANT YOU for the US army. Designed by James Montgemory Flagg in 1877 it was added as a spoof of the British version introduced earlier in WWI
