Assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand
Arch Duke of Hngary and /royal prince of Hungary and Bohemia was assassinated on June 28th 1914 by a resistance group known as the Black Hand. Austria and Hungary reacted by going to war and bringing its alliance with them which included Germany and Italy but Italy dropped out and stayed neutral. This was one of the reasons that started WW1. -

The attack failed when an allied counterattack by French and American soldiers including several tanks overwhelmed the German forces on the right flank causing many casualities and the German's defeat leading to the allies advancement. -

This was a treaty between the allied and German forces to end fighting on the western front. This was considered a victory for the allies and a defeat for Germany even though it wasn't a full surrender.
