  • Berlin Conference

    European powers met to divide Africa. No Africans were invited to this conference.

  • Boer War

    Gold and precious resources were discovered in Boer, which started the Boer War. The Boers, or Dutch farmers, fought bitterly.

  • Boer War ends

    Britain wins, but the victory was costly.

  • Francis Ferdinad and Wife are assassinated

    The assassination of Francis Ferdinad and his wife can be considered the event that initiated World War I.

  • World War I begins

  • German submarines sink the Lusitania

    almost 1,200 passengers were killed. This gets the United States involved in WWI

  • Second Battle of the Marne

    This battle marks the point where WWI turns to the Allies' favor.

  • President Wilson issues the Fourteen Points

    The Fourteen Points is a list intending to resolve The Great War and future wars

  • World War I comes to an end

    at 11:00 A.M. on November 11, 1918, the new German govornment sought an armistice, or agreement to end fighting, with the Allies.

  • Germany signs the Treaty Of Versailles

    The treaty stated that Germany had to pay reparations, had to return captured land, and had their military severely limited.

    This is one of the causes of WWII

    This is the start of WWII

    This Japanese attack got the United States involved in WWII

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    This was the largest battle on the eastern front and has over 1 million total casualties.

  • Normandy Landings

    Also Known as D-Day, this was the Allies' final chance to defeat Germany.

  • Battle of Leyte Gulf

    Considered the largest naval war in WWII and possibly all of history. It lasted from October 23rd to October 26th

  • Hiroshima is bombed

    "Little Boy," the name of the atomic bomb, was dropped on Hiroshima, killing over 100,000 people.

  • Nagasaki is bombed

    "Fat Man," the name of the atomic bomb, was dropped on Nagaski, killing over 70,000 people.

  • World War II ends

    Japan surrenders six days after Nagasaki was bombed. the war is officially ended.
