  • Franz Ferdinand Assassination

    Franz Ferdinand was assassinated and this started the biggest war in history

  • Austria Rejects Serbia

    Austria rejects Serbias offer and declared war.

  • The Schlieffen Plan

    German thinks up a plan to fight the war on two fronts. The Western and Eastern Front.

  • Stalemate on Eastern Front

    The fight on the Eastern Front was a stalemate.

  • Battle of Marne

    Allies attack Germans northeast of Paris in the valley of the Marne River.

  • Schlieffen Plan Ruined

    Allies attack Germans and drive them back 60 miles. The win at the Marne River destroyed the Schlieffen Plan.

  • Gallipoli Campaign

    Allies fought for the Gallopoli Peninsula and ended up losing with a quarter of a million soldiers lost.

  • Battle of Verdun

    Germans attack French, each side lost 300,000 men.

  • Battle of Somme

    British attack Germans and Britain lost 20,000 in the first day.

  • Unrestricted Submarine Warfare

    Germans declare that they will attack any ship on the waters around Britain.

  • United States Declares War

    President Wilson declares war and joins the Allied Powers

  • Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Takes Over

    Lenin insists on ending the war between Russia and Germany

  • Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

    Germany and Russia signed a treaty which ened the war between them. Russia had to give up Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to Germany.

  • Second Battle of Marne

    Central Powers crumbled and Germany declared itself a Republic. Marshall Foch and German Government meet and sign a armstice.

  • Armstice Signed

    German yand Marshall Foch signed an armstice which had them agreed to stop fighting. This was basically the end of the war.

  • Treaty of Versailles

    Germnay nad Allied Powers signed this and stopped the fighting. A league of nations was created.
