    Jean Jaures, a famous political figure in France, was assassinated by Raoul Villain in a cafe. He shoot Jean twice in the back. France was very angered by the murder of a beloved political figure. Soon after Jean's death Germany and France have declared war.

    In September of 1914 the first battle of Marne began in the north east of Paris. The French used the radios to intercept information from the Germans for the first time. This allowed the French to use strategic attack plans which lead to the defeat of the Germans.
