    The Main Cause of World War I
    The main cause of World War I was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. They were visiting Bosnia which was at the time annexed. There was a ploy to kill them from the young Bosnians. They try to kill him but it doesn't work. Then they take the wrong street and go right past one of the conspirators. So he walks right up to the car while they are turning around and he shoots them.

    Battle of Tannenberg
    The Battle of Tannenberg took place in August of 1914. It was against the Germans and the Allied in France. "the Red Army assault had forced Germany to move two corps from the Western Front to the Eastern, contributing to the German loss in the Battle of the Marne." Between Russia and France they were able to mobilize fast since they had war machines. Germany hoped to win it quickly but they didn't.

    The First Battle of Marne
    This battle was from September 6th to 9th. It was between the Germans and French. "The French and British forces confronted the invading Germany army, which had by then penetrated deep into northeastern France, within 30 miles of Paris." Then the French advanced on the Germans with a successful counterattack driving away the Germans.

    Battles of the Isonzo
    This battle was in Europe of April 1915. It was against the Allies and the Ottoman Empire. The Allies tried to have a victory over the Ottoman empire who had a conflict with Central Powers. But their attack failed. "Allied forces led by Britain launched a large-scale land invasion of the Gallipoli Peninsula in April 1915." That also failed so they had to retreat. They lost 250,000 men.

    World War I At Sea
    The Americans had a war at sea with the Germans in May 1915. "in May 1915 helped turn the tide of American public opinion steadfastly against Germany, and in February 1917 Congress passed a $250 million arms appropriations bill intended to make the United States ready for war." Then Germany sunk four more of the U.S ships. Then the Americans were ready for war.

    One of the reasons that the Americans got involved in the War was because of a letter that Arthur Zimmerman wrote to Mexico in a coded letter. But the letter was encoded and people in America heard about it. Zimmerman knew that the Americans had trouble with Mexico so the Germans tried to get Mexico to become Allies against America. After hearing that Wilson wanted to go to war.

    Technology Made During World War I
    There was a lot of different military and technology inventions during World War I. Some of them are the invention of the tank, the machine gun, and the fighting airplane. Some other technologies that were used were chemical warfare, gas masks, and flame throwers. Along with steel helmets among many other inventions.

    Another Reason of the Americans Involovement in World War I
    One of the other reasons that the Americans went into the war was because Germany said that they were going to continue submarine attacks on passenger and merchant ships. Then the President of the United States Woodrow Wilson went to Congress about the situation and they decided to declare war.

    The Second Battle of Marne
    "The Second Battle of the Marne turned the tide of war decisively towards the Allies, who were able to regain much of France and Belgium in the months that followed" Then by fall the Turks made a treaty with the Allies. Then the Arabs came and destroyed the Ottoman Empire. Then "Germany was finally forced to seek an armistice on November 11, 1918, ending World War I."

    The Treaty of Versallies
    This treaty was after World War I when the countries were trying to find terms that they could agree on. Some of the things they did in the treaty was take away all of Germany's colonies. The Germans felt it was unfair. But the French and British wanted the Germans to pay for the loss of their resources and territory. The treaty was supposed to stop another war from happening but instead it helped start another one.
