The British Declaration of War
In order for the Schliefflen Plan to succeed, Germany had to past through neutral Belgium, which highly upset Britain due to the fact that Britain had signed a treaty along with other European countries guaranteering Belgium neutrallity, thus Britain declaring war on Germany. -

Britain and France defeated Germany in the first battle of Marne, ending Gerrmany's hopes for controlling the western front. -
First Battle of Ypres
Battle beween Bristain, France, Belgium, and Germany. It was an ideal trench warfare. They wanted to take cotrol of the city due to the advantages it had on the english channel. -
In the second battle of Ypres, Germany launched a new war tactic surprising many and even themselves. Chlorine gas. Although it did cause deaths, it also harmed themselves.They used this dumping more than 50 tons on the french colonial division. The second battle of Ypres is known for the use of chemicals and chlorine gas.
