Germany Invades Luxemborg and Belgium

Luxemburg was a key place on the railroad so that Germany could put their Schlieffen Plan into place. This plan called for Germany to invade France using the low countries. This meant that in order for Germany to carry out this plan, Luxemburg would have to fall first.

German submarine sinks the Lusitania, a passanger liner on a trip from New York to Liverpool England, killing 128 Americans.
