Sinking of the Lusitania (US)
The US was sending a ship with US citizens and supplies for Great Britain but since the Germans had a naval blockade they had warned the US if they tried to send Britain supplies they would sink the ship and the US sent the ship anyway. This resulted in the ship being shot by a torpedo and then eventually sinking with US citizens on board. This had been the first time that US citizens were killed in World War I. -
