Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. Was the first battle in World War 1. The French attacked the Germans and fought for victory. Eventually, by September 10th, the Germans embarked a retreat, beginning a phase in the war, that would be marked by Trench Warfare. -

Took place from 1916-1916. Was a non-successful attempt by the Allied Powers to control the sea route from Europe to Russia.The battle continued and they fought. Allied forces had suffered heavy casualties, and an evacuation began on December of 1915 -

Was one of the largest battles fought in the first World War. This was fought near the Somme River in France. This was also one of the bloodiest military battles in history. The Central Powers and Allies would lose more than 1.5 million men. -

Alfred C. Harrison met with Jack Andras and the Paterson family. They went on a hike together to Milton. Then Hiked to Mooseback and caught a lot of Perch. After finishing up the fishing, they went back and enjoyed the weather. -
Battle of Cambrai
This battle marked the first-large scale use of tanks for a military defense. The British did a surprise attack near Cambrai, France on German troops on November 20, 1917. On November 30, the Germans counter attacked and regained what they lost. -

Was transferred to the 312th Cavalry, N.A. at Fort Meyer, Virginia. Being transferred took a while and the weather conditions were very poor which made the transfer more difficult. -
Battle of Amiens
Was an Allied victory that helped bring an end to World War 1. The offensive achieved hue gains on the 1st day. Germans did stiffen and the fighting continued the next few days. The war was considered unattainable after the battle. -

Began writing letters home, encase he doesn't return home to his family. He wrote individual letters fr his wife, son, and daughter. He himself, doesn't even believe he will return home. -

Just had a surgery and is very fatigued. He returned back to action too quickly, and now he is paying the price. He tells in his diary, he is really "banged" up. -

He faced his first crossfire. Nothing major, just a few enemy soldiers shot at their tents. The soldiers were eventually shot, and mo fatalities happened with his side. -

After the soldiers came and shot, all his fellow soldiers and their troops ran to the artillery, and began to prepare all the weapons and prepped themselves for war.
