    First Bullecourt was a battle on 11 April 1917 to capture a strongpoint in the string of defences across northern France which the Germans called the Siegfried Line. The stringfield line were known to the Allies as the Hindenburg Line. After big losses the Germans withdrew to a shorter battlefront where they were more prepared for the Anzacs which ended with the Germans winning the battle.
