     Russia Mobilizes
    One of the main causes of World War I was the mobilization of Russia.Russia did not want to seem weak to the other European countries so Russia promised to help France when it found out that Germany wanted war.The Germans were not worried because they knew that the Russian army would take a long time to get together. When Russia entered the first world war it actually had the largest standing army in the world with a total of 5 million soldiers.

    World war one is also knows as the "First World War" or the "Great War". This battle centred in Europe that began on the 28th July 1914 and lasted until 11th of November 1918. 70 million military personnel and 60 million Europeans were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history.There were over 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died beacause of the war.The reason for the war was because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

    On April 22 of 1915 Germans forces shocked Allied soldiers all along the western front by shooting 150 tons of lethal chlorine gas against at Ypres and Belgium.This was the first big attack by Germans and it devasted the Allied line.Toxic smoke has been used only usually in warfare in the acient times. In January 1915 Germans fired shells loaded with xylyl bromide.

    The British Ship Lusitania is torpedoed without warning by a German submarine off the south coast of Ireland.The large boat sank in the Celtic Sea within 20 minutes. Over 1,959 passengers and crew were on the boat and 1,198 drowned including 128 Americans. This attack annoyed the United States saying it was unfair treament but in Germanys defense they said that they had issued warnings of attacking all ships that were in the theater of war around Britain.

    The Germans respond to a demand by the U.S. The demand was issued by President Woodrow Wilson by agreeing to limit its submarine warfare to wardoff of offending the United States. The sinking of the Lusitania which led President Wilson to pressure the Germans to mess with there navy. Germans scared of the Americans the German goverment agreed to put restrictions on there submarine policy.

    Zimmermann Telegram
    A message from the German foreign secretary named Arthur Zimmermann was sent to Mexico from a German ambassador proposing a Mexican/German alliance. This was sent to Mexico because in case if there is war between United States and Germany. Zimmermann told the ambassador, Count Johann von Bernstorff to offer Mexico significant aid to Mexico if they were to go to war with the U.S. Also Germans promised Mexico there lost territores of Texas,New Mexico and Arizona.

    Two days after the U.S. Senate vated 82 to 6 to advocate war against Germany. The House of Representatives endorses the advocating by a vote of 373 to 50.Britain and America were the closest trading partners and then tentsion starting between Germans and the U.S. One day Several U.S. ships were traveling to Britain werfe dammaged or sunk by German mines. Germany announced unrestricted warfare against all ships of neutral or otherwise that entered the warzone around Britain in February 1915.

    Six weeks after the U.S. entered the First World War the U.S. Congress passes the Selective Service Act giving Woodrow Wilson the power to draft soldiers. On April 2 1917 Woodrow Wilson pledged to all of his nations to help the Allies defeat the Central Powers. What Allies really needed were fresh troops to relieve there already exhausted men on the battlefields of the Wastern Front these soldiers were not immediately able to provide. In 1916 when the Congress's war the U.S only had 100,000 men.

    Bolshevik Russia signs the Treat of Brest-Litovsk with the Central Powers leaving the Allied war effort and granting Polish and Baltic territories , the Ukraine and Finland independence.Russia and Germany the two cuntries begin a peace negotiations at the Brest-Litovsk this was near the Polish boder which is now the city of Brest in Belarus. Russia demanded a peace without annexations or indemnities and the Germans did not agree at this point. Germans were tired of fighting for land of Russia.

    This was the first large-scale battle fought by American soldiers in World War l that began in Belleau Wood this was northwest of the Paris-to-Metz road.On June 6 Pershing ordered a counteroffensive to drive Germans out of Belleau Wood.U.S marines attacked against the four German divisions positioned in the woods which suffered more then 1,000 casualties were made at the end of the first day. The next three weeks the marines backed by the U.S Army artillery launched many attacks into the forest.

    This day was for the Remembrance of all soldiers. On this day it marked the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. This took effect about eleven o'clock in the morning known as the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day". This day was related to the Remembrance Sunday of the end of the First World War.
