Archduke Francis Ferdinand was assassinated

Archduke Francis Ferdinand was the heir of presumptive to the throne of Austria-Hungary. He was killed by Gavrilo Princip who was a Serbian nationalist. This was the start to the war.

Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia

Since a Serbian nationalist killed a man with such power the people got mad and declared war.

All the allies start getting involved

Since Austria-Hungary declared war this forced all the allies to come out. Germany invades Luxembourg and Belgium. France invades Alsace. British forces arrive in France. Nations allied against Germany were eventually to include Great Britain, Russia and Italy.

Germans attack America

May 7, 1915

German submarine sinks the passenger liner Lusitania during crossing from New York to Liverpool, England, killing 128 Americans. And overall drowning 1,198 people.

The United States declared war

After Germany continuing its attacks America has had enough and declared war.

The treaty of Versailles

Allied and German representatives sign treaty of Versailles. The United States signs treaty of guaranty, pledging to defend France in case of an unprovoked attack by Germany.
