    Assasination of Archduke Frans Ferdinand of Austria
    The heir to the throne of the empire of Austria-Hungary was killed by Serbian revolutionaries who wished to break free of the Austria-Hungary Empire. They killed both Frans Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie. It was this assasingation that caused the gears of war to begin turning, and brought forth the start of World War 1.

    Austria-Hungary Invades Serbia
    In punishment for the assasination of its heir, the Austria-Hungary empire invades Serbia, and officially declares war. Thus begins the first war ever that involves all the "great powers" or empires of the time.

    World War 1

    World War 1 began with the assasination of the Arch-Duke or Austria-Hungary by a Serbian assasin. It was the straw that "broke the camel's back" and lead to the 6th most deadly conflict in the world history. There had been tensions between several large empires, and treaties and alliances had been formed between empires to make each stronger. When Austria-Hungary entered into war with Serbia, the rest of the world was pulled in as well.

    President Woodrow Wilson publicily tells the Germans to stop sinking American ships in German waters. The Americans had been trying strongly to remain neutral in the War, but the Germans had a policy of destroying all ship in German waters. The Germans used their submaries relentlessly on any ship in their waters, and the Americans did not take kindly to their ships being blow up.

    1st German Airplane Raid on Great Britain
    Until now, all German air raid have been from zepplins, but the attack marks the beginning of a new age of wafare in the sky. Until now, airplanes had mostly been used to bomb down zepplins, and photography from the sky. From this point onward, they were used more and more for sky battles and bombings.

    USA Declares War on Germany
    As German submarines continue bombing American ships, President Woodrow Wilson calls for the Senate to declare war upon Germany and they do, taking into light the recent "Zimmerman Telegram". In said telegram the German foreign minister invites Mexico to war as an ally. The Germans claimed that as soon as the Americans entered the war, Mexico could help the Germans defeat them, and take back land that had been lost in the Mexican American War (Texas, New Meixco, & Arizonia) half a century ago.

    USA Enters France
    The first American troops arrive in France. Landing in St. Nazaire, they consisted of about 26,000 men. They are the US 1st Division, and when the war ends, they are the last to go home.
  • USA Declares War on Austria-Hungary

    USA Declares War on Austria-Hungary
    Before this point, the United States has only been at war with Germany. This declaration of war upon the Austria-Hungary empire allows for the United States to plunge fully into the war. The United States is no longer attempting to stay nuetral.

    At this time German U-Boats arrive in United States' waters. Germany is now making an aggressive move onto United States' territory, and this marks the beginning of the Central Power's downfall.

    Battle of Cantigny
    The first major battle that the Americans take part in, the Battle of Cantigny, ends with the Americans victorius. The 28th Regiment of the 1st Division is the American force fighting against the German rcontrolled town of Cantigny. With help from French airsupport, the American infantry capture the town and celebrate a victory.

    American Intervention in Siberia
    The President of the United States (Woodrow Wilson) finally agrees to United States intervention in Siberia. In saying this he agrees to help send troops to Siberia along with the other Allied countries. They all needed to help Russia in it's civil war happening at the same time.
  • Allied Forces Move into Siberia

    Allied Forces Move into Siberia
    Recently, Siberia has chosen to sign a peace treaty with Germany, allowing Germany to move weapons and soliders freely through the area. That caused a hole in one of the front lines of Russia's defenses, and allowed to get to areas with stockpiles of food and weapons that were in Siberia. With the acceptance of the Allies to invade Siberia and help Russia out with its civil war, Allied troops move inward into Siberia.

    As the Germans are retreating from the St. Miheil salient the Americans attack and defeat them. This part of the plan of capturing the German city of Metz, which is an important area. In breaking through the line of the German defense, it brings the first step of this plan into play.

    WW1 Ends
    Today marks Armistice Day, when WW1 officially ends. At 11/11/1918, at 11 am, a armistice is signed between the allies and Germany in a train car in Compiègne. Thus ends the first "modern" war, leaving almost 10 million people dead.

    All the nations from the war met and signed a peace treaty on the 5 year anniversairy of the assasination of the Austrian heir. Germany signed a treaty that said they were responsibly for the war, and agreed to pay ALL the debts of the victor countries. They also had to give up prime German territory to the Allies. This caused intense inflation in Germany in later years, and made the Germans feel cheated. This amnosity is a main cause of WW2, when the Germans wanted to regain what they had lost.
