The Assassination of the Archduke took place in Sarajevo Austria on June 28th 1914. The Archduke was leaving the town hall in his car with his wife Sophie when a Member of a Serbian terrorist group called the Black Hand ran up to the car and shot Sophie and Franz Ferdinand. Germany requested the “Rite of Passage” through Belgium to Invade France, and Belgium Declined so Germany invaded Belgium to start the fighting with France. This was Significant because Great Britain got involved to protect the Belgium's neutrality, and if Britain didn't get involved then the Germans would have had a much greater chance to succeed with the Scheflin plan of wiping put France quickly. -
