    British forces attack the Germans northwest of Verdun in the Somme valley, after day 1 the British had suffered over 20,000 casualties. by the time the battle ended in November each side had suffered over half a million casualties

  • The United States enters the war

    After a German telegram asking Mexico to ally itself with the central powers is intercepted, the United States joins the war on the side of the allies.

  • Russia signs a peace treaty

    In November of 1917, Russian communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seizes power in Russia and insisted on ending the countries involvement in the war, one of his first acts is to sign a treaty with Germany ending the war between them.

  • The second battle of the Marne

    Allies and Germans battle once again in the Marne river valley, with 150 tanks leading the allied charge and 5 million American troops to strengthen the allied forces, the allies began to push towards Germany.
