    Pic link In 1095, Roman Catholic Europe decided they wanted the land back in the Middle East that the Islamic Turks still held. In July 1099, the Crusaders made their way to their goal of Jerusalem and massacred the Jewish and Muslim inhabitants in a decisive win for the church.

    Pic link About 50 years after the Crusaders took over Jerusalem, the Muslims fought back and took Damascus. Therefore, another Crusade party was sent out to recapture it. Unfortunately, the Crusaders were defeated and returned home in shame.

    Pic link In 1187, Saladin of the Muslim Saracens took over Acre and Jerusalem. A Third Crusade was called for, so England and France stopped fighting each other and went over to get the Holy Land back. Acre was captured in 1191 on the 12th of July. After that battle, the Crusaders captured the city of Jaffa as well.There was no real winner in the end. The Christians didn't take back Jerusalem, but they weren't driven out.

    Info and Pic link The Shogun was a military dictator that pretty much ruled Japan. They were appointed by the Emperor, but the Shoguns did all of the ruling. Minamoto no Yoritomo was the first Shogun ruler of Japan. Shoguns ruled until 1867

However, this didn't happen so the Crusaders turned on Christian states that weren't really under their government, the Byzantines. These were the city of Zara and Constantinople. About a decade ago, Pope John Paull II said that it was a horrible thing for Christians to kill other Christians.

    Aztecs found city of Tenochtitlan
    InfoPicture Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztecs. It stood until 1519 when a Spanish bloke called Hernan Cortes levelled it to the ground. Today its ruins are in the middle of Mexico City.

    Pic Link In the 1330's plague spread through China. Seeing as China had a lot of trade with Europe, it wasn't long before some sailors brought it back with them. It was so deadly, and so easy to spread that one third of Europe's population was killed by the plauge.

    Info and Pic The Yuan Dynasty which was the main Chinese/Mongolian powerhouse fell in 1368 to the Ming dynasty. After that, the Mongols went back to Mongolia.

    Info and Pic In 1453 the Ottoman Turks took over Constantionple. This was the end of the Byzantine Empire. It wasn't easy however. A lot of Turks and Christians were killed in the siege.

    Info link Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer who worked for the Spanish and discoverd the Americas. Columbus thought he had landed in India however, so named the area the "Indies" and the people "Indians". He had four trips to the Americas, and took some slaves from there as well.

    Pic and info Franciso Pizarro conquered the Incas in Peru. He went there, told the Incan leader to fill a room with gold and silver if he didn't want to be killed, then killed him.

    Pic and info Nicolaus Copernicus was the first guy to really think that the Sun was at the centre of the Solar System. He wrote a book about it, and the church wouldn't have really liked it. Lucky for him though, he died before the church could punish him.

    Pic and info The first permanent English settlement in the Americas. It was established by the Virgina Company of London. Originally, the settlers got on with the native Americans, but that didn't last for very long. Jamestown is located on the west coast of the US, about halfway down the coast.
