    Seneca Fall's Convention
    The Seneca Fall's Convention was held in New York. This was an opportunity for women to express their need to have a voice in society. 68 women and 32 men signed a Declaration of Sentiments. This set the agenda for the women's rights movement.
  • 1st National Convention

    1st National Convention
    The first national women's rights convention is held in Worcester. It attracted more than 1,000 people.
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    This was the start of the civil war. This is important in the fight for women's rights because during the Civil war women were able to get new rigths and hold jobs. This inspired them to fight for new freedoms including the right to vote. Women also allied themselves with the African American population. Both of these groups were trying to get the right to vote and they felt that they would be stronger if they worked together.

    Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton form the NWSA. The goal of this organization is to achieve voting rights for women.

    American Woman Suffrage Association
    Lucy Stone and Henry Blackwell form the AWSA. This group specifically focused on gaining voting rights for women on the state level through individual amendments.

    Wyoming passes the first women's suffrage law. In the next year women began to serve on juries in that area.
  • National Women Suffrage Association & American Women Suffrage Association

    National Women Suffrage Association & American Women Suffrage Association
    These two associations merged together to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association(NAWSA). It went state by state to campaign for women's voting rights.
  • Colorado Adopts an Amendment
