The Battle of Bunker Hill was a significant event in the American Revolution because it was what started the war. New England militia of colonists built a fort near Boston. General Howe ordered an immediate attack on the fort once he noticed it. Redcoats marched up the hill, expecting to crush the colonists, but were beaten. They kept trying, and kept failing. British finally seized the fort when the colonists ran out of ammo. The British had twice as many casualties than the Americans.

British was going to seize Hudson River Valley so that the colonists would be divided. General Burgoyne would come from the north and General Howe would come from the south. However, Burgoyne had to go through tangled wilderness and Howe had other plans. When Burgoyne arrived at Saratoga Springs, he faced militiamen. They fought, and Burgoyne lost.

The Surrender at Yorktown was significant because it was the main event that ended the war.
Washington sent General Greene to deal with the British in the south. Greene made a strategy saying, “We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again,” since their army was too small. British settled in Yorktown since they were tired chasing Greene around the country. America set up their trap then. French troops surrounded the city and sealed the bay. Militiamen soon arrived and the British got defeated.
