  • War Powers Act

    War Powers Act
    This was known as the First War Powers Act. It was an American law that increased federal power during World War 2. President Franklin Roosevelt signed the act and he was the one who made it a law.
  • First Indochina War

    First Indochina War
    It was fought, and it involved the French Forces and Viet Minh, Pathet Lao, Khmer Issarak Communist Rebels. In three years after this War was fought it started to Vietnam War.
  • Truman Doctrine

    Truman Doctrine
    Harry Truman came up with the Truman Doctrin on March 12th 1947. He requested $400 dollars for Turkey and Greece to approve.
  • Battle Of Dien Bien Phu

    Battle Of Dien Bien Phu
    This was a confrontation between the First Indochina War and the French Unions French Far East Expeditionary Corps. As a result in this battle the french began an operation to support the soldiers of Dien Bien Phu.

    The Domino Theory was the reason why the Americas stayed involved in Vietnam. It was promoted by the United States Government. If a state in the region was under the influence of communism, the countries around them would follow them in a domino effect.

    The Geneva Conference was held in Gevena, Switzerland. It was to try and find a way to help unify Vietnam, and to try and keep peace Indochina.

    On November 2nd 1963 Diem was otherthrown and executed. Viet Minh wanted to take advantage of Diem being overthrown, so they increased thier support for the guerrillas.

    Operation Rolling Thunder, was the name of a US Second Air Division. It was a campaign that was against the Democratic Republicans of Vietnam.

    Tet Offensive was a military campaign. It was during the time of the Vietnam War. It was launched by the Viet Cong and North Vietnam against South Vietnam, the United States of American and their allies.

    Richard M. Nixon had a policy called " Vietnaminization". It was to was to train and expand the South Vietnam's forces and assign them to a combat role.

    Kent State, is also known as the May 4th Massacre and the Kent State Massacre. This shooting happened at the Kent State University which is in Kent, Ohio. The people who were involved in this shooting were students with no protection by the Ohio National Gaurd.

    The Pentagon Papers were documents that showed that the government lied about the military involvment and the progress of the war in Vietnam. In 1971 people wanted president Nixon to order the troops to be withdrawn from Vietnam.

    It was an amendment to stop the United States Constitution from setting a voting age that was higher than the age of 18. It was made because of student activism against the Vietnam War, also to overrule the Supreme Court.
