American Aid in Vietnam
Weapons from North Vietnam begin to gradually invade South Vietnam. United States begins to aid South Vietnam in war efforts. United States soldiers in South Vietnam rises to 12,000 soldiers. -
President Diem is Overthrown
South Vietnamese army is defeated by the communist gorillas, Vietcong. President is overthrown. President Diem and his brother are later captured and killed by soliders ultimately causing the United States to become more involved in war efforts in an attempt to stop communist rebels and help the South Vietnamese government become stable. -
Bombing Raids
America starts doing bombing raids on North Vietnam. 200,000 American troops now involved in the Vietnam war. Important because you can see that America is starting to get deeply involved with the war, often compared to World War Two efforts. -

Ho Chi Minh dies at the age of 79, war continues on. Important because one of the main leaders involved in the war was no longer alive. War lost some meaning. -
Talks in Paris
Henry Kissinger, Nixon's national security advisor, and Le Duc Tho talk in Paris about ending the war in peace.Imporant because it was the first sign of an end of the longest war. -
Cease Fire
United States agreed to sease fire and completely pull out of Vietnam by March 1973. America officially out of the war they had no business being in. -
North invades the South
North Vietnamese troops invade the south and take over the entire country. President of South Vietnam, Doung Van Minh Surrenders. Important because although the north and south are still fighting, the end is near. -
End of War
War ended when Saigon was captured by the North Vietnam Army. North and South vietnam were rejoined a year later. Important because now everyone involved can move on and can take precautionary measures to make sure such things as this war never happen again.
