    In september 2 of 1945 the leader of the Viet Minh declares the independence from France colonial rule. He announces the formation of the democratic republic of Vietnam. They had been ruled by France for almost 7 decades and were now finally independent.

    On the second of September in 1945, Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the independence of the democratic republic of Vietnam. It replaced the former Nguyen dynasty. This cut off all ties from France.

    Operation rolling thunder was an aerial bombardment campaign against North Vietnam. This happened from 1965 to 1968. The purpose was to have Ho Chi Minh to stop trying to take over South Vietnam.

    The Tet Offensive was a series of attacks from the North of Vietnam. These attacks escalated the war incredibly. They were unsuccessful because the South refused to embrace their ideals. They also failed to capture any territory.
