North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launch the Tet Offensive, attacking around 100 South Vietnamese towns. -
Two New Tactics
Nixon orders the secret bombing of Cambodia and also starts Vietnamization, or giving the South Vietnamese more responsibility and withdrawing U.S. troops. -

Martial law is declared in Poland as people riot over food. -
Protests
Five hundred thousand people in Washington and 125,000 in San Francisco march in protest against the Vietnam War. -
Easter Offensive
North Vietnam launches what is known in the U.S. as the Easter Offensive, in an attempt to capture a Southern Province. American and the South repel the attack. -
Paris Peace Accords Signed
U.S. involvment in the war officially ends with the signing of the Paris Peace Accords. -
The North Attacks
With the U.S. out of the picture the North Vietnamese attack the South. -
Fall of Saigon
The South Vietnamese Government is unable to stop the Northern Advance and the city of Saigon is taken. All of Vietnam is now practically in Communist control.
