Invasion from Japan and France
Vietnam had suffered many wars before the Vietnam War. In 1940 Japanese came knocking on the door, ruling one portion of Vietnam. In 1941 French took other portion of Vietnam. -
Ho Chi Minh
Ho Chi Minh came to Vietnam after thirty years of travelling to other countries. He built his camp in northern side of Vietnam and started a group 'Viet Nimh' to invade Japanese and French rulers. He had seek helped from US to abolish Frenc rulers but US on the other hand wasn't on his side instead US helped France to fight against Ho. -
Start of the War
The war was fought between US and Vietnam to abolish communism. The fight was against the South Vietnam which was na allie of US whereas the Northern Vietnam was an allie of Russia. US didn't want other country to fight Communism. Vietnamese have seen many war before US attacked them, the Japanese and French was there before overuling vietnam. -
US motive against Vietnam
In march of 1965 President Lyndon Johnson gave an authority to send the US ground troops to Vietnam after the northen vietnamese attacked the two ships on international water, also known as the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. The main motive for US was to help the south Vietnam to stop north vietnamese group from spreading communism. They were there to bolster south Vietnam with only limited support to them. -
Protest in US
After US attacked Vietnam, there were thousands of casualties in Vietnam including US soldiers as well as death of many innocent children and women. The pictures were very horrific to watch. US used chemical bombs to wipe out the villages where innocent children were born to death. There were many protest in universities, state and city against the war. Many famous celebrities like Muhammad Ali supported the protest as well. The most incident that carried the people to protest was the 'Mai Lai" -
Tet War
The North Vietnamese under Ho Chi Minh join forces with the Viet Cong and luanched attacked on one hundred South Vietnamese cities and towns. They called it 'Tet Offensive". The attacked war carried out on a Vietnamese New year. This is to show how Northern Vietnamese power over south. -
Mai Lai Massacare
In 1968 when the US platoon of C company arrived in My Lai village whose population was only 700. These platoons were in search of the VetCong soldiers, when they arrived at the village they didn't see any VetCong soldiers, instead most of the men had gone to corn field to work. These soldiers started killing young boys, womens and old men who were 82 years of old. There were total of 347 people including children, men and women were killed.Later,few of the soldiers were charged with homocide. -
War came to the end
In 1973 'The Paris Peace' Accords are signed to asking to cease fire. The President Nixon started withdrawing troops. After US troops left Vietnam the condition got worsen. The northern Vietnamese group took over south. South vietnamese surrender and it was the first time the vision of Ho Chi Minh came true.
