    Fighting started between United States and Filipino revolutionary forces on February 4, 1899, becuase the philipeans wanted to be on there own but in reality the US owned them. On June 2, 1899, the Philippines declared war against the United States. The war ended on July 4, 1902.

    President Theodore Roosevelt oversaw the realization of a long-term United States goal—a trans-isthmian canal. Throughout the 1800s, American and British leaders and businessmen wanted to ship goods quickly and cheaply between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. It was finished being built in 1914.

The ships finished there expidition on 22 February 1909. the reason for this is becuase Roosevelt wanted to demonstrate the growing of american military power.
