US History Timeline 1800-1876

  • DC becomes new Capital

    On May 14th the capital has officially moved from Philadelphia to DC.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The US purchased the state of Louisiana from France for 15 million dollars.
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition

    On March 18th Lewis and Clark began their expedition from St. Louis as well as Camp Dubois, in hopes of exploring the Louisiana Purchase.
  • War of 1812

    The War of 1812 started when US declares war on Britain because Britain interfered with Americas maritime shipping and their westward expansion.
  • United States Flag

    The United States flag is officially adopted by Congress with the arrangement of 13 red stripes and 13 white stripes. To finish it off there is a star added for each state in the Union.
  • The Nat Turner Revolt

    On August 12th a man named Nat Turner led a slave revolt in Virginia ending in 57 white citizens dead.
  • The Thirteenth Amendment

    On December 18th the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery is put into motion, and begins a turning point in US history.
  • The Great Depression

    Once the New York stock market crashes an economic depression takes place. This caused panic for many people and it also led to bank failure.
