    A group of Boston men dressed as Native Americans snuck onto a British ship that held tea. The men were tired of everyting being taxed, so they dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor as rebellion.

    The colonies of America declared freedom from the rule of the British King. Without this event, the United States of America would probably not exist.

    In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson purchased a large piece of land in the Middle of North America. He bought it from France. This purchase immediately gave the United States control over the Mississippi River, and it more than doubled the size of the nation.

    Merriweather Lewis and William Clark werehired by President Jefferson to explore the newly purchased Louisiana Territory.
