    French and United States diplomats had an incident that resulted in a undeclared war. The war was known as the Quasi-War. Peace was eventually restored with the Treaty of Mortefontaine.

    The convention of 1800 ended the Quasi-War. the French agreed to return the captured American ships, and the U.S agreed to compensate for the damages made by the French on American shipping. The convention also ended the alliance between France and the Unites States.

    Louisiana Territory stretched from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. The United States bought this land from the French doubling the size of America at the time. The Louisiana Purchase is considered one of Thomas Jefferson's most important achievements during his presidency.

During the war America suffered many losses including the capture and burning of the nation’s capitol. The ratification of the Treaty of Ghent on February 17, 1815, ended the war restoring America’s patriotism leading to an era filled with national pride

    The Treaty of Ghent was signed by the British and the American representatives in order to end the war of 1812. The treaty stated that all concurred land be returned and a boundary set between the United States and Canada.
