    Jethro Tull invents the seed drill
    Jethro Tull made the seed drill to help more crops take root by allowing farmers the seeds to go in even rows at certain depths. This made more crops grow which created a larger crop yield. It was spawned from the agricultural revolution.
  • John Kay invents flying shuttle

    John Kay invents flying shuttle
    The flying shuttle carried yarn back and fourth very quickly. It greatly increased the productivity of weavers. It was shaped like a boat. This was one of the first inoventions in the textile industry. It doubled the weavers productivity. Later, the Spinning Jenny made the Flying Shuttle even more productive.
  • James Watt builds the first steam engine

    James Watt builds the first steam engine
    James Watt was a mathmatical instrument maker at the University of Glasgow. He figured out how to make the steam engine faster and more effecient than other modes of transportation while still burning less fuel. He met with an entrepeneur named Matthew Boulton who then paid him a salary to build better engines.

    Marx and Engels publish The Communist Manifesto
    The Communist Manifesto is a 23 page pamphlet, published by Marx and Friedrich Engles. At the time they were radical socalists, and their phamphlit outlined the guidlines for what is now communism.

    US Civil War ends; US experiences technological boom
    After the civil war slavery was abolished, and the US had a technological boom. There were more factories, and goods were produced faster and cheaper than before. More technolologies were produced during this time.
  • Germany becomes dominant industrial power in Europe

    Germany becomes dominant industrial power in Europe
    Germany followed Britains model of industrialism. They imported new technology and engineers. Children were sent to Britain to learn managment in a factory, but most importantly they built railroads.
  • British Unions win right to strike

    British Unions win right to strike
    Unions were made to improve workplace standards. If Unions weren't happy or if their demands weren't met, the workers would strike. Over time, industrialization became more fair and humaine because of these unions.
