    French Indian War Ends Treaty of Paris 1763

    Treaty of Paris 1763 gave mainland North America land to the British. Tensions rised between European powers due to areas, settlements and trading ports. The Treaty of Paris situated land.
    IMPORTANCE: Ended the Seven-Years war, aswell as banished all French militarial threat to the colonies.

    The Stamp Act & Quartering Act

    As the Parliment passed new taxations for war cost many violent riots broke out during these times. Many of the colonist believed in, "No taxation without representation." They started to question and protest the Kings British ruling.
    IMPORTANCE: The British needed funding for the soldiers. In order to keep them funded they placed acts of taxation to help for war.

    Battle of Golden Hill

    A fight between British Soldiers and Sons of Liberty. A occurance that was on going. The Sons of Liberty set up poles for each the times the Stamp Act and Quartering Act were repealed. These poles were chopped by the British and exploded as a sign of deem.
    IMPORTANCE: It showed the growing hate between the British and Colonist. Believed by many to spill the first actual blood.

    The Boston Massacre

    A scuffle between nine British Soldiers and hundreds of colonial people. Shots fired at the colonist leaving many dead. Children, men, and women left dead. Infuriated this event takes headlines and causes major anger within the colonies.
    IMPORTANCE: Delivered the British as the bad guys. Paul Reveres propoganda forms the negative viewing of the British. Shows the British carles little for colonist.

    The Boston Tea Party

    The colonist were now infuriated on pointless taxes, now a tax on Tea. A secretive group, " Sons of Liberty" dressed as Native Americans dumped 324 crates of Tea infuriating the King.
    IMPORTANCE: Showed the revolt against the superior high power. This gave, spreaded, and sparked large amounts of nationalism for the colonies.

    Intimidating Colonial Colonies

    The British Parliament pass the Intolerable Acts as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. Britain begins closing the ports of Boston and requires British troops to be housed by the colonist and vacant buildings.
    IMPORTANCE: Placed by the King this was meant to kill nationalism for the revolting colonies and show people supieriority. This was taken the wrong way sparking a bigger fight for independence.

    The American Revolution Begins; Lexington

    Militia men held their own to the outnumbered amounts of trained redcoats. After a scuffle many militia men died with the redcoats suffering only a casualty. The militia men fleed while the redcoats marched onward to Concord.
    IMPORTANCE: This was the first major occurance gunfire was used by the colonist. Showed they were devoted for freedom. This was the first battle of the American Revolution.

    The American Revolution Begins; Concord

    The militia men fell to the North Bridge of Concord, being defended by the British the colonist fought back. The redcoats originally fired first but fell back after an ambush.
    IMPORTANCE: This was shocking proving the people can win head to head against trained soldiers. The win in Concord added to nationalism even more.

    Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Patriots held off over 2000+ Red Coats off Breeds Hill. They eventually came to a sad loss due to the lack of ammunition. Known for being one of the bloodiest battles of the revolution. They fought to get a strategic outlook on a hilltop.
    IMPORTANCE: Outnumbered and low on ammunition the Patriots sought an outlook station. Besides the loss of this battle, the British experienced that the Patriots Army will do anything to win by any means. Their was no going back now.
  • George Washington; Continental General

    George Washington; Continental General

    George Washington was selected and voted General of the Continental Army. Due to his past military experience he was believed to have the ability to reunite the colonies and led the army to greatness.
    IMPORTANCE: His leadership lead the Continental Army to wins over the British. His tactics and stategic plays with such a large army is known to be an ideal Generals leadership. Winning over Yorktown and defeating the British cemented independence because of him.
  • America Declares Independence

    America Declares Independence

    The Continental Congress declared and approved the Declaration of Independence. After years of taxes, bloodshed and death, the Congress break away from Britain with the colonies. 100% independence. The King wouldnt give in that easily though.
    IMPORTANCE: Gave the overrall agreement of independence for the colonies on a single signing paper. Showed the Kings poor heir needed to come to an end. Gave the firsts official human rights, sociality, and limited government supiority.
  • George Washington Crosses The Delaware River

    George Washington Crosses The Delaware River

    George Washington made the strategic strategy to cross the Delaware undetected with his army in Yorktown. When arriving to Jersey they marched to Trenton to fight Hessians at the Battle of Trenton.
    IMPORTANCE: Knowing the Hessians would celebrate hard on Christmas. The next morning an ambush occured on isolated British troops. This boosted the morale of the army giving them the win.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga

    Lasting from September to October, Known to be a turning point. This created major nationalism within the people due to the Patriotic Victory. This gained the French's help giving the U.S military support.
    IMPORTANCE: Due to the French eventually being seen as an ally this gave hope to the people. The aid in the French gave the US foreign support for the war against Britain. This alliance would help drastically in the future.
  • France Enters The War

    France Enters The War

    The Continental Army learns of France being supportive in May. They also learn that they will be aided with troops, generals, slaves, and financial aid. This would be one of the key points for the Patirots winning. Two Treatys were also signed officially Treaty of Amity and Treaty of Commerce.
    IMPORTANE: Gave the Patriots a solidified chance to defeat the king. Resources given from the French closed the skill gap between the British and US causing them to win more.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens

    Continetal Army by Daniel Morgan defeated a British force at Banastre Tarleton Cowpens. As the British attempted to take control of the Southern Colonies, the US took little to no casualties, while the British suffered many deaths.
    IMPORTANCE: For the South this was a turning point. This battle allowed the Continental force to regain control from the British Southern Colonies. This would be seen as a extremly critical victory during the revolution.
  • Guiltford Courthouse

    Guiltford Courthouse

    British troops win the Continental Army in North Carolina. This loss of a battle was a strategic move by General Nathanel Greenes strategy. He gathered battle strategies against them and key points. He was known for being methodical as General.
    IMPORTANCE: Nathaneals strategy eventually lead to Cornwallis making destined moves countered at Yorktown. Theses strategies led to their defeat seven months down the line.
  • Ninety Six; Siege of War

    Ninety Six; Siege of War

    General Nathaneal Greene unutilized the outpost that was vital in South Carolina. This area was key and provided a great place in the Revolution. The Patriots suffered a terrible loss and gave the British a clear victory. The British burned the battlefield (town.)
    IMPORTANCE: Showed how important the outpost ninety-six was to both opposing sides. The first Battle of the South was fought at this outpost. The British would fortify this poi making them stronger.
  • Yorktown; Large British Army Surrenders

    Yorktown; Large British Army Surrenders

    General Cornwallis stationed with many troops in the city of Yorktown, General George Washington swooped in and planned an attack. The French occupied the Chesapeake Bay with fleets blocking it off so the British could not receive support or retreat. This left General Cornwallis stuck forcing him and his 8k army to surrender. With the support of the French army, a clear victory was seen.
    IMPORTANCE: Lead to peace negotiations that ended the war. Known to be the most important event in this war.
  • Evacuation Day

    Evacuation Day

    The entire month of January an evacuation of the large sums of Loyalist. Many of the soldiers decided to flee to Canada and to other countries for better life. Over 100k Americans loyal to Britain transfer and move.
    IMPORTANCE: This day cleansed the colonies of troops from the British and the captured. This was important in a new lead for independence.
  • Treaty of Paris 1783

    Treaty of Paris 1783

    Treaty of Paris allowed all of the 13 colonies to expand Westward past the mountains and hilltops. Now allowing the country to grow largely. Most importantly it ended the War and solidified the 13 colonies' freedom once and for all.
    IMPORTANCE: Following the signing of the Treaty. The US began to grow into imperial power after. Gaining Cuba, Phillipeans, Guam, Puerto Rico, and an additional 20$ million dollars.
