    Fall of Many Ancient Cultures
    There were many different cultures and societies that inhabited the ancient North American contient. Groups like The Mound Builders, the Mississipians, and the desert dwelling Anasazi people are examples of these societies. Even though written history was around, these people have no recorded history, and all mysteriously disappeared around the same time. Reseachers have no real idea what happened to these people, but they suspect that maybe prolong drought caused it.

    Columbus's "discovery" of the New World
    While North America had been traveled to by people of Europe before this date, Columbus is credited for the "discovery" of it. It was a completely accidental discovery, but it started off major chains of events. Columbus thought he had to India, and this mistake is the reason for the names of many North American places and things. This was the start of European involvement in North America.

    Hernán Cortés was the conquistador who took control of Mexico, in the name of Spain. It took him 3 years, and many of his people were killed in Noche Triste. It was a conquest helped by disease and other native tribes.

    The Virginia Company of London was the joint-stock company that got the charter from King James I to start the colony of Jamestown. It was the first successful English colony in America. Even though it's first years were horrible in many senses of the way, it proved to be successful because of the sell of tobacco. This can be descriped as the beginning of the United States of America.
  • Adoption of the Barbados slave code

    Adoption of the Barbados slave code
    This law gave the white masters in the Caribbean island of Barbados basically complete control of there labores- enslaved Africans. This was the same code that influenced slavery in the American mainland. It was whites with a version of the Barbados slave code, and a few slaves that colonized the Carolinas.
