Europeans came to the Americas
Spanish explorers came to the Americas searching for a shorter route to Asia. They brought over diseases and began to colonize the region when they found out there was gold. -
English Settlers
Settlers from England came to the Americas in search for a better life. They wanted religios freedom with a safe place to raise families with a better life. -
British Colonies
By this time, Englad had 13 colonies in America. They were on the East Coast and Boston was a major city where people came to from other countries across the Atlantic -
Revolutionary War
This year, the colonists decided to protest English taxes and eventually started a rebellion. Men fought and some women nursed the wounded. -
Declaration Of Independance
This was the year the Declaration Of Independance was signed by the founding fathers. This is the document showed that america is its own country and independant from england -
America took the lead
by this time, america took the lead in the revolutionary war. -
America- A nation
America was finally considered its own nation by other countries. -
Louisiana Territory
Jefferson bought the louisiana territory from france and expanded america. this doubled americas size and made them feel more powerful -
florida territory
Florida territory was obtained from spain. this wasnt much land but it meant america was growing -
indian removal act
The removal of native americans off their native lands. many natives fought back but they moved because they were defeated. -
texas
Texas fought for its freedom from mexico. they stayed independant for a little bit and then entered the union. -
Oregon
Britain gave America the oregon territory. -

by this year, America had obtsined california, utah, nevada, new mexico, and other states from mexico -
Womens rights
Women began to fight for their civil rights. they wantedto be equal to men and have the right to vote as well as go to work -

this war was between the north and the south. it was mostly about slavery but had other smaller reasons -
Emancipation Proclamation
Lincoln declared that slaves should b freed and equal. they were given civil rights and the right to vote -
Civil war ends
the civil war ended. the north had won and the slaves were freed. reconstruction of america began -

the typewriter was invented by Christopher Latham Sholes -
battle of little big horn
between the Sioux and american malitia men. the sioux won but a couple days later, the malitia men slaughtered the entire village including women and children -
Electricity
Thomas Edison made a lightbulb using electricity. powerplants were built to create electricity for cites and towns. many new inventions were made that ran on electricity
