    The Battle of Trenton took place from December 25, 1776 to December 26, 1776. Before the battle, Washington had a big problem;his army was tired and most of them wanted to leave. There weren’t enough supplies and they were just retreating from New York. And above all that, the Continental Army was about to expire. Being ashamed, Washington wanted a plan of action. He led his troops across the Delaware River to attack Hessian soldiers who were resting there for Christmas.

    He decided to attack in three groups; 1 led by Lt Col Cadwallader, another led by Brigadier Ewing of the militia, and one led under himself. He decided to attack at night but the river was ruthless. Raging winds combined with snow, sleet and rain pelted the soldiers as they made way to camp. In the end, only Washington’s troop made their way into the Hessian camp. Caught by surprise, the troops surrendered. There were no deaths on the American side and they captured over 1000 troops.

After this American victory against General John Burgoyne's troops showed that even though the Americans were not as exoerienced, had less supplies, and were not as coordinated, they were still able to defeat the mighty British.
