    Because Harriet was born into slavery, the date of her birthday was not recorded. She was born in Dorchester County, Maryland. Her real name was Araminta Ross.
  • Harriet the Slave

    At age six, Harriet's master Edward Brodas, lent her to anouther couple who made her weave, then she was to check muskrat traps which gave her the measles. She was sent back to Brodas, lent to anouther woman to babysitt. After getting caught eating one of the lady's sugar cubes she was sent back to Brodas yet again.

    At age 12 Harriet took blow to the head from a white man overseeing, causing a seriouse injury. Reason? She had refused to tye up a fellow slave.

    Harriet married John Tubman at age 25. He was a free slave, and one of the main reasons she wanted to be free. She was afraid she would be lent out again and their mariage would be split. John on the other hand, said he didn't want to move and told her he would tell her master if she ran away.

    A abolotionist handed her a paper with two names and a destination, escaped to Philedelphea and got a job from abolotionists freeing slaves.

    In September Harriet helped eleven run away slaves from Pennslyvania run away to Canada, with the help of Fredrick Douglas.

    A reward for $40,000 is offered from a plantation, and Maryland itself sent out a reward for $12,000

    In the spring of 1857 Harriet helps her parents run away to Canada.

    In the ten years Harriet worked as conductor she rescued 300 slaves, and made 19 trips and none failed
  • Civil War

    Harriet enlisted to help as a "Contraband" nurse.
  • Second Marriage

    Harriet married Nelson Davis in Auburn, New York. Stayed married for 19 years till he died.
  • Death

    Harriet died from old age after donating her home to her church.
