    1755 Libson Earthquake
    The earthquake happened in 1755 that struck off of the coast of southern Portugal. The earthquake was a magnitude 9.0 and killed anywhere from 10,000-100,000 people. It generated a tsunami that struck the coast of Portugal, Morroco and Great Britain.
  • 1883 Krakatoa

    1883 Krakatoa
    In the Sunda Straight between Java and Sumatra, the Volcano Krakaotoa erupted, causing it's top to collapse into the ocean. This caused a massive 115 ft tsunami that killed 36,000 people and destroyed nearly 200 villages in the surrounding areas.

    1946 Aluetians Earthquake
    The 1946 Aluetians Earthquake was an 8.1 magnitude earthquake off of the coast of Alaska. The tsunami raced through the Pacific into Hawaii. It cut the islands off guard because of how fast it struck. The tsunami killed 160 people in Hawaii.

    This was a massive mega thrust earthquake with a magnitude of 9.5 and it the largest ever recorded. It struck off of the Coast of Chile. 35 ft tsunamis were recorded as far as Hawaii and Japan. The combined earthquake and tsunami caused 1000-6000 casualties.

    1964 Alaska Earthquake
    A magnitude 9.2 Earthquake struck the coast of Alaska in the Anchorage Bay in 1964. The earthquake 20 small tsunamis in 20 different countries, the largest being the on that struck Alaska with a height of 220 ft. The earthquake and tsunamis killed 139 deaths.

    1983 Sea of Japan Earthquake
    In 1983, a large 7.3 Earthquake hit the north west coast of Japan in the sea of Japan. The earthquake caused tsunamis to hit many surrounding countries like Korea and China. The largest was a 33 ft tall tsunami that struck the coast of Japan. In total, 104 were dead or missing and 324 were injured.
  • 1998 Papua New Guinea Earthquake

    1998 Papua New Guinea Earthquake
    The 1996 Papua New Guinea earthquake struck off of the north coast of Papua New Guinea with a magnitude of 7.1. It caused a 49 ft tsunami to developed and struck its coast it killed in total 2,183-2,700 and thousands injured.
  • 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake

    2004 Indian Ocean earthquake
    The 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake was a massive 9.1 earthquake that struck off of the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. This caused tsunamis from 50-100 ft to strike multiple countries with coastlines on the Indian Ocean. It killed 230,000-280,00 people and caused countless other injuries.

    2009 Samoan Earthquake
    In September of 2009, a large 8.1 earthquake hit off of the coast of Samoa. The earthquake was felt in Samoa, American Samoa, Tongo, the Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia and New Zealand. It generated a 46 ft wave and killed 189 people, mostly being children.
  • 2010 Chile Earthquake

    2010 Chile Earthquake
    I'm February of 2010, a massive 8.8 earthquake hit the coast of Chile. Tsunami warnings were issued for 53 countries on the Pacific Rim. Most of the tsunamis reported were either 3 ft or passed over. The largest struck Chile and was 8.5 ft. In total, 525 were killed with 52 injured.
  • 2011 Japanese Earthquake

    2011 Japanese Earthquake
    On March 11th, 2011, a massive 9.1 earthquake struck the coast of Japan and created a massive tsunami that travled as far as California. The tsunami was measured at 133 ft in Japan and devesated the country. In total, 15,894 were killed, 6,152 were injured and 2,562 people went missing because of the event.
