    Forming the Continental Army was one of the most significant events during the American revolution, because it showed that the colonist were ready to fight the British for their rights. John Adam proposed the idea of forming a Continental Army made up of volunteers from all of the colonies. They decided on George Washington to lead this army. They had soldiers from all the colonies and also included French allies .

    Even though, they were always short of soldiers and supplies, they were very spirited and had an experienced leader. George Washington was a important part of the army because he lifted the soldiers' spirits.

    The Declaration of Independence was one of the most significant events of the American Revolution, because it sparked the revolutionary feeling in the colonists. On July 4, 1776, 56 men gathered to sign a piece of paper. That piece of paper was the Declaration of Independence. Written by Thomas Jefferson, the purpose of this document was to explain to the world why the colonies were breaking away from Britain.

    y. The Declaration was supposed to be signed on July 2, but the committee decided to take out the complaint slavery. They felt it might demand that slaves be freed, and the southern economy was based on slavery. When the Declaration of Independence was signed, Benjamin Franklin highlighted the seriousness of the pledge by saying, “We must all hang together. Or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.”

    Jefferson starts out by stating that when people find it necessary to break their ties, “a decent respect to the opinions of mankind” requires they explain why. In the Declaration, Jefferson makes his arguments simple, but persuading. He consistently refers to natural rights and that all men are created equal in the eyes of God. He cites John Locke’s Social Contract as well. He also made a long list of complaints against King George, one of them being against slavery.

    Crossing the Delaware and the battle in Trenton was a very important role in the Revolutionary War because that was a huge turning point in the war. It was a dramatic scene on Christmas of 1776 , the british thought that the war was about to end. This was huge because once the Americans won the war, it proved to the French that the America had a chance against the british. After the war then the French came to help which help the Americans and re-supply the troops.

    Washington's crossing of the Delaware River, which occurred on the night of December 25–26, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War, was the first move in a surprise attack organized by George Washington against the Hessian forces in Trenton, New Jersey on the morning of December 26. Planned in partial secrecy, Washington led a column of Continental Army troops across the icy Delaware River in a logistically challenging and dangerous operation.

Not only that while this was happening “The Crisis” was also very helpful to the troops because they read and heard about that and then they got their hopes up and fought for their freedom. The ambush on Trenton was an act of genius by Washington and it helped to turn the tides of the Revolutionary War.

    The Battle of Saratoga was important because it was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. These battles were fought 19 days apart, on September 19, 1777 and October 7, 1777. These battles were fought on the same ground, 14.5 miles south of Saratoga in New York. On September 19, Burgoyne’s army had won a small tactical victory over the Continental Army.

    On October 7, however, his success was erased when the Continental Army had caught a portion of his defences while Burgoyne was attacking the Americans. Burgoyne and his army attempted to retreat, but were later surrounded and were forced to surrender on October 17, 1777. 5,895 British and Hessian Troops surrendered their arms. General Burgoyne, the general of the British Army, lost about 86% of his expeditionary force.

    After hearing that General Burgoyne has surrendered, France was brought into the war and joined allies with the Americans, which turned the war into a global conflict.
