Columbian Exchange

The Columbian Exchange was the widespread exchange of animals, plants, culture, human populations (including slaves), communicable diseases, technology and ideas between the American and Afro-Eurasian hemispheres following the voyage to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492, colonization and trade by Europeans, and institution of the slave trade.This is one of the events that led to Civil war because it what brought slaves to the United States.

Constitution

The Constitution was one of the events that led to slavery since it says that slavery is Constitutional because it aays that 3 out of 5 black man is count as 1 person.

Invention of Cotton Gin

The invention of the cotton gin by Eli Whitney led to the Civil War because this became the number 1 crop for the southerns. So the Southerns wanted more land so more land equal more need of slaves. Another event that led to Civil War.

Lousiana Purchase

Thomas Jefferson bought the Lousiana Purchase from Napeoleon. This led to the Civil War because this provided to the Southerns more land so more land for them is that they need more slaves to work for their lands.

Missouri Compromise

Henry Clay came up with a compromise to keep a balance of free states & slaves states. This led to the Civil War because it divided the country in half.

Fugitive Slave Law

Fugitive Slave Law led to the Civil War because allowed for the capture and return of runaway slaves within the territory of the United States.

Uncle Tom's Cabin

The book Uncle Tom's Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe led to the Civil War because it created more abolitionists. So more people were against slavery.

Kansas Nebraska Act

This led to the Civil War because they decided to popular sovereignty if slavery was illegal or legal. So it created Bleeding Kansas which led to the Civil War.

DredScott vs Standford

Mar 9, 1857

Scott was a slave in Missouri & then brought too Wiscosin. Which he thought that made him a free man. So he sued his owner Standford & the congress said no that he was still a slave. So this didn't respect the Missouri Compromise.

Lincoln elected

Nov 9, 1859

The southerns were not happy about Lincoln being president, so South Carolina seceded & James Buchanan was president during the time which he didn't do anything about it & let the state secede. This led to Civil War because the country actually started splitting.
