  • The Seond Continental Congress

    Secon Continental Conggress stated that no slaves be imported into any of the 13 colonies. This is a led to the cival war because it showed disagreement between the 13 colonies.
  • 3/5 Compromise

    The Constitutional Convention settles on the 3/5 compromise that stated that it will count 3/5 of a state's slave population in apportioning Congressional representation. Congress is also forbidden from ending the slave trade until 1808. Fugitive slaves who cross state lines must be turned over to their owners. This led to the civil war because the states did not agree on slavery.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    Should Congress admit Missouri as a slave state. There is some fear of Civil War already. As a compromise, Congress adopts an amendment that there shall be no restriction on slavery in Missouri, but the institution will be prohibited from Louisiana Territory north of 36º30' latitude. Protests continue as critics seek to refuse Missouri's admission unless the state passes legislation to provide for gradual emancipation. This causes issues in the states and there was already panic of Civil War.
  • Webster - Hayne Debate

    An argument between Daniel Webster and Robert Hayne, about the issue states' rights versus national power. Webster said that Hayne was a challenge to the integrity of the Union. Hayne responded with a defense of the theory of nullification. Webster "Liberty and Union, now and for ever, one and inseparable." This led to the Civil War because it was a cause to the nullification crisis when south carolina neglected federal government.
  • The Nat Turner Rebellion

    Nat Turner a Slave lead a slave rebellion whitch came to be known as the bloddiest of all times when he and his companions killed 70 whites. This is a lead to the Civil War because it spread panic around the states as propaganda showed that all slaves were murderouse killers.
  • The Panic of 1837

    A major economic depression caused by falling cotton prices and bank failures. Unemployment rates went up. it lasted about six years. This is a led to the civil war because it caused many people to be forced to live in harsh condition and results in panic and terror to revolt and cause problems.
  • Texas Becomes a State

    Texas is admitted into the United States as the 28th state, After Battles like the Alamo against Mexico. Texas entered the United States as a slave state, broadening the irrepressible differences in the United States over the issue of slavery and setting off the Mexican-American War. Which was a cause to the Civil War due to the fact of disagreements and conflicts.
  • Mexican - American War

    U.S Declared War on Mexico. The war lasted till feb, 2 1848. This led to the Civil War because the pople did not agree on the terms set aside whit Mexico asfter the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    When Uncle Tom`s cabin was publiahed it infultraded the south because it was initially a series of abolishionist papers. Many ban its sale but still sold more than 1 million copies. This led to the Civil War due to the effect it had on the people it made them see things a different way causing separation between them.
  • John Brown Raid on Harper`s Ferry

    Abolitionist John Brown wanted to start an armed slave revolt with twenty-one men, including five blacks. The plan backfires and ten of Brown's men are ultimately killed. Brown and the others are set to trial. This led to the Civil War because the southerners were scared and the raid made them think all the north people were murderouse killers and made them think about leaving the union.
